Nintendo Announces Black Friday DSi Bundles

by Meagan Marie on Nov 23, 2009 at 03:20 AM

Nintendo just announced that on Black Friday shoppers will be able to snag a Metallic Blue (new color) or White Nintendo DSi, preloaded with more than $20 worth of DSi software. The bundles are “priced for the holidays” and will be available “while they last.”

“These limited-edition bundles come packed with some of the great Nintendo DSiWare games and applications that have made Nintendo DSi such a big hit with shoppers young and old,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The special price and pre-installed titles make the bundles a huge value for the holidays.”

Each color DSi contains a unique set of games targeting different audiences. The Metallic Blue DSi will snag you the titles below:

•    Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again
•    Dr. Mario Express
•    WarioWare: Snapped!
•    Mario Calculator: Mario and Luigi
•    Mario Clock

The white DSi bundle includes the following:

•    Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters
•    Brain Age Express: Sudoku
•    Brain Age Express: Math
•    Clubhouse Games Express
•    Photo Clock

We don’t know what qualifies as “priced for the holidays,” but DSi currently retails for $169.99. It will be interesting to see if a price cut is associated with the deal, or if the inclusion of the DSi Ware titles is the only thing added to the pot to make it sweeter.

Earlier this month, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata spoke about DSi titles, admitting that they (and Wii Ware titles) haven’t been selling as well as Nintendo had initially hoped. These bundles seem to represent Nintendo making a push to publicize their downloadable service, as bundles traditionally are paired with retail games.

So is a new DSi on your holiday wish list? Or are you holding out for the recently announced DSi XL?
