In case you missed it, there were stirrings and murmurings of God of War III having online co-op this past weekend. Hopefully the thought of dual titan-slayers didn’t get you too excited, because Sony has come out and pegged the news as pure rumor."This news is unfounded," a Sony representative told IGN regarding the original post found on TheGamerAccess. "God of War III will not have an online co-op mode."Not that I could easily tell you what co-op in God of War would be like, but nevertheless it’s disappointing to hear this won’t be happening. Anybody licking their wounds after this little clarification?
Bummer, that sounded so awesome to me. I always look forward to play games like this in a MP style. I would love to see a shadow of the colossus game be a 4 player multi-player style. Maybe someday....

As far as gameplay, I think the action would lend itself well to co-op. But the one-man-army narrative - not so much.

it's good that they're not trying to shoehorn in co-op.
Don't think co-op is really needed for GOW, but I wouldn't mind it either.

oh well, at least we know we are getting superior gameplay since they are focusing on single player.
I can only hope that this is true! Forget sloppy, unthoughtful, slapped on co-op and give me the single player game i know GoW3 has in it!

disappointing??? this is great news!!! God of War is one of those unique games that thrives in being single player, and it should stay that way. there is no reason to put co-op in this game. i mean, could you really picture Kratos working WITH someone in his quest for revenge? yea, me neither.
Great news,it really is.Finally a great game that stays with what's the most important in a video game,the story.Not that i wouldn't like to play with a friend,it just won't fit with God of War 3.

If you care so much about it having co-op than it's a good thing you aren't buying it but you'll be missing out for a PS3 owner.

I never thought this game should be Co-op or anything it's a good solo game. It's about playing the game and watching the story unfold.

I think co-op would've been cool in some other mode, like a mission mode that's similar to the ones in 358/2 Days or Sigma 2. No story, just plain action. Co-op would've undoubtedly ruined the flow of the real story.
