When GTA: Episodes from Liberty City hit retail, the manual got people talking about the next installment in the series. A page in the book says “Liberty City, It’s Over!” and underneath shows an obscure image possibly suggesting a new location.
While this may just be an evil tease, Rockstar co-founder and vice-president Dan Houser hinted at a new GTA in an interview with The Times. The discussion turned to upcoming projects and Houser didn’t confirm or deny any of the rumors. “We’ll think of a city first, then the characters,” he said.
Whether or not there is another GTA in the works is anyone’s guess. Where would you like to see the next GTA take place?
Since I live in Portland, OR. I would love to see it take place here, or somewhere like here. Even London or somewhere in Europe would be cool to play in. We'll see where it ends up, if it is somewhere new. It is a rumor at the moment.

I've always thought it would be fun to have a GTA game where small towns are the highlight. The game could take up an entire countryside full of small towns ranging from 15,000 people to 150 people, and emphasis would be put on the different activities you can do in them. For example, one of the towns could be on a lake and you'd have the ability to participate in contests, races, fishing, etc.
That, or a re-do of Vice City would be nice. But that would probably be a little stale...
I have a feeling it's going to be either New Orleans, Georgia, or Illinois. If not they may take it back to the California style which will be great because San Andreas was my favorite.
Hopefully this one is fun, unlike GTAIV which was techinically brilliant, but just was not that enjoyable to play for me.
I like the idea of small towns. It'd be a good way to keep the franchise interesting and fresh.
On a side note, whenever I think of GTA I think of Gears of Halo Theft Auto 5 by Machinima. Makes me laugh every time.
Wouldn't mind it being in Europe. Not in London cause we all know its been done already so somewhere new and fresh would be nice. Maybe France? Just not Italy we've seen enough Italian mafia as it is in GTA games to date so stepping out of that direction would be best. GTA needs to start off fresh with new ideas so anywhere but Italy.
@ korey eichie- i hate portland so make it where i can tear down some buildings ala red faction 3. @annette gonzalez- i already did have a simular post but thaks for posting that houser is already hinting at it too,not just a manual. this may sound wierd but i want the next gta to let you inside every building and make them complete with all floors and rooms. that would not only make this game way more large and immersive but also give snipers an advantage, just add laser sights on sniper rifles to level it out online.
it'll probably just be new hand held one...
I would like to see Chicago or St. Louis, maybe maybe an amalgam of both? I love the idea of incorporating small towns, as well.
However, maybe America isn't necessary to GTA. How about London? Or maybe even somewhere in Asia? I know that's unlikely, but if there is one thing you can count on fromRockstar, it is their willingness to do something new.
based on the manual image, I'm thinking Vice City or Australia, but I'm always hoping for London or Tokyo...
handheld one? that reminds me....WHERE THE HELL IS SANANDREAS STORIES?
The only time I've seen Germany ingame is in WWII games, Why not try a modern Germany, Or Russia.
India or china would be cool too, But not as cool..
MWUAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAAAAA!
I'm guessing San Andreas Stories will ever happen seeing as the handheld counterparts didnt sell as big as the console games, but who knows maybe we'll be lucky enough to see it come to light.
I love the teaser image, because it really shows you nothing. I think it does have a little bit of a brochure feel to it, and it looks a little like a national park. I'd love to see it incorporate something like Yosemite into the landscape of the game. Imagine the wilds with a few neighboring cities/towns.
They have the one big city thing nailed, so I'm hoping they'd branch off in this direction. They tried it a little with San Andreas, and that remains my favorite GTA to date.
It'd be pretty cool if they had it in Africa. Maybe in one of the war-lord countries with a safari.
They can choose whatever city they wish but please address some of the fundamental flaws of the series that are no longer acceptable.
I don't care, I just want Red Dead Redemption!
Somewhere where it's snowing. I'd love to see snow in GTA.
GTA needs to go to a none americanish setting it's done that to much even with China Town and all it was still Americanish. It's time for something different.
With apologies to San Andreas and GTA 4 liberty city but the best GTA game was Vice City. A return to Vice City would make me one happy gamer.
