You might’ve heard, particularly from industry analyst Michael Pachter, that an HD version of the Wii is in the works for a 2010 release. If you think this is true, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Amie couldn’t disagree more.
In an interview with Geoff Keighley on Gametrailers TV, Fils-Amie denied this rumor.
“Michael continues to be the only one who believes that this is gonna happen,” Fils-Amie said. “I don’t know how forcefully we can say that there is no Wii HD.”
So there you have it folks, no Wii HD—at least for now. What do you think? Would you like to see Wii titles in HD?
Good job Nintendo... you just guaranteed next gen failure for years to come.
What's HD? :p
*sigh*
i don't own a wii and i probaly never will.
nice, build a new system not a remix
Nintendo is going down! I own one but never buy software because it's just not worth it, I want full HD gaming, that's why i own a 360
in all honesty, how HD can cartoon avatars get?
This is nothing substantial here. Anyone really expecting a Wii HD was hoping for something not realistic. Now, another whole system that has HD? That's a different story all together.
No Wii HD, but he didn't say no high-def for the next console.
I'm cool with that. I don't feel like buying a new console yet.
Honestly, how does an obvious dolt like Michael Pachter keep getting his name in the press. For an "industry analyst", he keeps pulling ideas out of his pooper shooter and playing them off as future fact. This guy is constantly wrong and more than a little bit annoying. From Wii HD to $100 admission to XBL, I think this guy's been smokin with Harold and Kumar too much, because his predictions are about as accurate as a stoner's brain functions. Hey Game Informer, here's a hint: NOBODY CARES ABOUT MICHAEL PACHTER'S PREDICTIONS!
I own a Wii and the last purchase I made was Guitar Hero World Tour when it first came out. There aren't any good games for the Wii and full HD gaming would be nice even for those "casual" gamers who supposedly are their core audience.
@stephen_chavez
Well, I don't have an HDTV yet and likely won't have one until around the time the next console cycle starts, so it's no skin off my teeth. I still want to see it that black Wii will make it's way across the pond though.
Least they aren't making different versions of the wii like the DS.
Remember when they flat out told everyone there was no DS Lite and then the next day it came out? I'm just sayin Michael could still be right.
Heck yeah standard definition
come on guys its easy to see that the wii is just a big disk game cube
Actually, Alfred, most Wii games don't even look as good as some Game Cube titles. *sigh...*
That's why i own all 3 systems, in terms of use 360 90% PS3 8% & Wii 2% the wii is not for real gamers , its a cheap knock-off of what a system should be, new control's, Pokemon gamer graphics , lol lol, the old games for the Nintendo franchise were classics. But either update, or get out the way for real progress, buy 1 for you kids, if they will play it after 40 min
Nintendo has a long and hard earned history of consistantly being one step behind current trends...
remember multiplayer, multi controler,
remember actual color screens for gameboys,
remember the jump to disc,
rembemer backwards compatablity,
remember incorroprating internent play,
and now HD and/or Blue Ray.
We love nintendo, but nintendo loves to come in dead last in technology updates to cut a dollar or two off their bottom line.
