New Media Reveals Big Spirit Track Twist

by Meagan Marie on Nov 06, 2009 at 04:01 AM

Nintendo let us know that all is well with their upcoming handheld Zelda title, and that it's golden for the December 7 release. While at it they also threw a slew of new media our way, including a trailer that dishes out quite a surprise.

So what is that surprise? In Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, the princess continues the time-tested tradition of being captured by villains, leaving Link alone against the world to save her. But this time the odds have evened out, as the princess is no longer willing to sit out the battle for her fate. Corporal form need not apply. The trailer reveals that the spirit of Princess Zelda is indeed the same specter that follows around Link in his quest to save Hyrule – taking control of the giant suits of armor known as Phantoms. Zelda will also keep up to speed with Link’s customizable train, aiding with wisdom that will help to unlock new areas, storylines and items. Better listen closely.

“More than two decades into its rich history, The Legend of Zelda has introduced another historic first for players as Link and Zelda unite to save Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Combining these unprecedented new story and game-play elements with the series' innovative touch-screen interface on Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi, the game is sure to surprise and delight new and longtime fans.”

Zelda’s always had the best of intentions, but her cryptic quests and habit of finding trouble often created more problems than she solved. Are you excited to finally have Zelda kick ass by your side?
