IGF Main Competition Entries Revealed

by Meagan Marie on Nov 04, 2009 at 06:28 AM

And there are a lot of them. The 2010 Independent Games Festival awards are off to a good start, setting a record with the number of indie games entered in the competition this year. Over 300 games have been put in the pot for consideration at the 12th annual Independent Games Festival awards – an increase over the 226 in 2009.

If you have some time on your hands we recommend perusing through the pages of contestants, where you may spot one of the breakout indie games of next year. Here you will find information, screenshots and videos of each of the IGF Main Competition entries.

More than 150 industry judges will be evaluating the games this year, and I am fortunate enough to be one of them. That being said, you can expect to be kept up to date with breaking news about the competition. And as we did last year, once the final contenders are announced we will roll out an indie game roundup previewing the best of the best.

The finalists will be announced in January, with winners taking home their loot during the IGF ceremony at the Game Developers Conference in March. If you are a student working on a project of your own, it’s not too late to enter the Student Showcase category – you have till November 15. As for the IGF Mobile competition, December 1 marks the deadline.

If you’ve had a chance to check out some of the participants, what games are sticking out? Any you are going to keep a watchful eye on?  The above image is from Blueberry Garden, a big winner in last year’s competition. Anyone pick it up on Steam after its release?
