Fallout MMO Concept Art Released On Interplay Forums

The legal situation between Bethesda Softworks and Interplay continues. Bethesda purchased rights to the Fallout franchise from Interplay in 2007 and later sued the company citing trademark infringement and attempted to terminate its right to make a Fallout MMO. Bethesda threatened legal action after certain production conditions were not met for the MMO project that goes under the code name “Project V13.”

Because of the lawsuit some of the concept art for the game has been released. Members of the Interplay development team have now posted concept art for Project V13 in the Interplay forums. The revealed concept art features a factory, desert, survivor portrait, and graveyard.

The following was posted by a member of the development team: “Keep in mind that this is concept art. It's not finalized art, but it will give you a feel for what we are aiming for with V13. (And I'll keep bugging the lawyers to release more art when we can... I'm pretty excited that we're finally able to show you some of the work that we've been doing up until now.)”

  • As much as I loved Fallout 3, I don't think I'd be interested in an MMO, especially if it is not made by Bethesda.

  • Fallout MMO sounds pretty cool...I just might have to bite the bullet and pay the likely monthly fee for this.

  • I liked the original Fallout games more than I did 3. I did enjoy three, Bethesda did an amazing job recreating the world in a different perspective, but it just didn't feel the same. Also, a few of the key systems didn't transfer well - Bethesda's rendition was a lot more forgiving. I guess to summarize, I'd be more excited for a new Elder Scrolls than a Fallout game made by Bethesda.

  • I guess what I'm also saying is don't underestimate Interplay.. they made some kickass games back in the day. Although, it's extremely annoying they just sat on the Fallout license as long as they did, especially given how popular they were among people who played them.

  • YEAH! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for interplay on this one. As much as I love bethesda, I love the original fallout series more than bethesda's remake. call me old school. I'd much rather see a Elder Scrolls MMO first from them first. I don't know how many times i was playing oblivion wishing I could adventure with some real life friends.

  • I really liked Fallout 3. But I think that Bethesda's best interests would be making a new Elder Scrolls game. Not an MMO either.

  • MMO is not Bethesda's territory.

  • I'm not sure how they could make this an MMO.  Most MMO games have different races or classes, it's just humans and mutants in this one, unless you can play as a giant scorpion too.....weird.

  • I'd be digging an MMO, but not unless Bethesda does.  Perhaps I could be swayed, but concept art is one thing, screen shots are another.

  • If I recall Interplay violated an agreement with Bethesda because they didn't raise enough money for this MMO and they didn't begin development before their deadline.

Since all they have to show for their alleged work is concept art, I would conclude they violated their agreement with Bethesda and their lawsuit should be nullified.

  • I think it's funny how stuff like this continues to happen. I'm gonna back out of this project and/or sell this idea, then when I see the party I sold it to is onto something I will insist it's still mine.

I personally have zero interest in revisiting the MMO genre, under any circumstance. Beloved setting or not, I have come to grips with the fact that the whole MMO idea is a cop-out.

I would rather see small party multiplayer in Fallout 3 as is.

  • They're going to have to work hard to make this concept work without sacrificing the feel of the Fallout universe.

  • I would be more interested if Bethesda had a part in this. Though i might try the free trial, im not paying 10 dollars a month.

  • i dont know, i play consoles, and dont play pc, if it was console, maybe

  • If it was available on consoles, as well as PCs, I could really get into a Fallout MMO, especially if it was as awesome as Fallout 3. For now, I'm more than happy running around Pandora solo, or with a few friends, just being a loot ***.

  • dude, a Fallout MMO would be amazing. Fallout seems like a MMO space anyways

  • i on the edge about this game

  • Fallout MMO rocks...hopefully they would bring it back to the old school like in Fallout 1/2.

  • I would definitly support this game more if Bethesda was behind it.

  • This seems like a pretty good idea. I think Bethesda has the talent to make a good MMO, if anything Fallout would be a great candidate.
