Dreams really do come true. Today we learned that Japanese video game creator Keita Takahashi has been given the opportunity to realize one of his long-time dreams – designing a playground for children. Takahashi has proven his creative prowess as the mastermind behind Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy. He has expressed interest in designing playgrounds numerous times throughout his career, and today it was announced that he will be given the opportunity to show the children of Nottingham City what he’s got. A formally trained artist as well as game designer, Takahashi will spend a month in Nottingham City, consulting local school children, community figures and NCC Landscape Architects to further flesh out his ideas for the playground. The NCC selected Woodthorpe Grange Park for the Takahashi-branded playground, hoping that the naturally rolling hills will result in a more creative end product. A tentative debut window has yet to be released for the project, but we will keep you updated. Takahashi has proven his ability to create captivating and dreamlike landscapes in his digital work, so we have full faith that this endeavor will result in a work of art.
Bravo, Takahashi! We need pictures after it gets built :-)
awwww
I wish I lived there. If his games are any indication of how creative the park will be than the kids are in for a treat. We need pictures after this is built!
Not only after, we want regular updates with concep art and everything.
Man, I wish I was five again and that I lived next door to this future playground.
Congratulations to Takahasi for getting the opportunity to create something completely different. Why should any talented artist be constrained to one medium? He's got what it takes to make this playground work.
when i have kids i'm taking them to nottingham. even better idea....who wants to go on a trip for a game of tag once its done?
@mocheaks - I'm down for both.
But will it incorporate a giant ball that picks up kids as it rolls over them?
I want to go there
Cool. Just be careful, children, and make sure this isn't a target for his real dream -- to build a real-life Katamari. :)
Awesome. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
All kids will be required to wear Velcro jumpsuits and in order to exit the playground, they must increase there mass 10x.
Sounds like fun... just don't lick anything or you'll trip out.
