“The Zelda Marathon” To Support Big Brothers Big Sisters

by Annette Gonzalez on Oct 27, 2009 at 06:21 AM

The Penguins in the Desert Productions team is hosting The Zelda Marathon in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines – Thorold & District. The event is a fundraising effort to aid in mentorship programs, future fundraising efforts and making successful matches for children in the program.

The Penguins team will play seven Zelda games for 24 hours a day until all seven are completed. The team will broadcast live from the headquarters of the Big Brothers Big Sisters branch they are supporting and will also invite children in the program to play a few hours each day.

The Zelda Marathon will begin November 27 at 6 p.m. ET. Penguins in the Desert hopes to raise $5,000 for the program and donations can be made during the event through a “Chipin” widget on the event's Web site. Not only will you support a good cause, but members of the Penguins team will commit to "punishments" after reaching certain dollar amounts. Raise $500 and the team eats a can of sardines. Raise $5,000 and one of the members waxes a Triforce symbol on his chest. Ouch.
