360 Avatars Only Available For E10+ Games

evelopmag.com recently made it out to Microsoft’s Gamefest event in Seattle, and managed to dig up new details about the recently revealed Xbox 360 Avatars. Xbox Live GM Eric Kilgore stressed that when it comes to Avatars, the goal has always been to make them as diverse in application as possible – integrating them in-game, out of game and across the web. The goal – Kilgore continued – is to give developers creative freedom to showcase Avatars in different ways, even creating games specifically for them. Despite the stress on freedom, he did note that there will be some restrictions early on in the implementation of Avatars. Kilgore clarified that for the time being Avatars will only be allowed for use in E10+ games, avoiding violence entirely.

We are still developing the final policies,” Kilgore told Developmag. “The final guide we have this year is to think of them in an ‘E10’ context. That doesn’t mean it won’t change – but this Fall they won’t be able to blow each other’s heads off.”
