Gears Of War Film Director Announced

t appears that Len Wiseman – most recently known for his work on Live Free or Die Hard and the Underworld series – will be manning the helm for the New Line’s Gears of War movie. He will be working side-by-side with Chris Morgan, the scriptwriter for the upcoming game-to-film adaptation. Morgan most recently worked on the upcoming film Wanted as well as The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The two are not unfamiliar to each other, as they are currently working on Shell Game – a sci-fi thriller in production through Lakeshore Entertainment and Columbia Pictures. The pair will also be working with Gears designer Cliff Bleszinksi, who has been promoted as a vital part of the project since details first came to light last year. Originally the movie was expected to release summer of 2009, but due to delays it is not known if the date will still hold.

"It's like with our games, you can have it right or have it right now," said Epic Games Mark Rein to Variety. "We want to get it right. There's no timetable for us. We just want to make as good a movie as we can, and we think (Wiseman's) the guy who will do it."
