Nintendo Pushes Fix For Switch Battery Indicator Glitch

by Imran Khan on Aug 01, 2017 at 12:39 PM

Imagine the scenario where you are finally able to secure a Switch, you take it home, plug it in, and you can't tell if it's actually charging.

This scenario is surprisingly not uncommon, prompting Nintendo to push a fix for the problem in the latest firmware update, alongside instructions for what the user has to do beyond the update. The circuitous process, which requires repeating the steps several times, involves completely draining the battery with the AC adapter plugged directly into the system.

You can find the full instructions on Nintendo's website, though it does require downloading the new update first.

Our Take
Watching the Switch battery indicator jump from 40% to 70% and then back to 50% in the span of a minute after undocking it is always a hoot, but hopefully they can fix this problem from the getgo so new buyers don't have to perform an arcane ritual just to see if their console works.
