XCOM 2 Patches In Controller Support On PC

by Michael Leri on Nov 08, 2016 at 07:13 AM

XCOM 2 may be one of the best PC games of the year, but its latest update makes it a bit more like its console counterparts. Xbox One and Xbox 360 controller support was patched into XCOM 2 today (along with some minor fixes and tweaks). Other, unspecified controllers will now work too, but will "require additional user adjustments."

"We have been hard at work tailoring the interface specifically for controllers so that it provides a level of comfort and accessibility that our players expect," says Firaxis' Community Manager Dave Hinkle in the Steam news page detailing the patch.

Controller-equipped PC players can also now enable the developer commands and activate a free camera mode, which unhinges the camera. This free roam camera lets players get a closer look at the game's characters and environments and can be used in conjunction with the Replay Mode to set up custom screen shots.

Our Take
While some might argue that this game is very PC-centric, giving players more options is not a bad idea.
